Elsevier and Code Ocean partner to advance transparency and code executability

Reproducibility and re-usability of code is very important to Elsevier. To facilitate this, we are currently running a pilot with Code Ocean to test the feasibility of using their cloud based executable platform to improve peer review.
Authors are being asked to upload code and data and configure the necessary computational environment for reproduction. The code, data, metadata, and computational environment (called a ‘compute capsule’) can then be accessed by reviewers in an anonymous fashion. Upon publication, this code and data is provided to readers via a link from the article.
